Treatment under general anaesthesia

The vast majority of dental treatments are carried out under local anaesthesia. Treatment under general anaesthesia can be useful in cases of very extensive dental treatment and jaw surgery.
This type of anaesthesia is often necessary in patients with anxiety disorders and an unwillingness to be treated (toddlers). As an intermediate solution, there is the possibility of conscious sedation, In which the patient is put into a kind of twilight sleep.

Before treatment under general anaesthesia, the attending general practitioner must certify the patient's suitability for anaesthesia.

In our dental office, general anaesthesia is performed by a specialist in anaesthesiology. The specialist monitors the patient both during and after anaesthesia in the recovery phase.
